People in the Circle.

It takes all of us. These are some of the people we have met along the way.

How we met Beds for Kids

Walk into the Beds for Kids warehouse in Charlotte, and you see right away what a community can do when it pulls together.

Zach, Krista, and Moses welcomed us in September and walked us through all of it. They told us how Beds for Kids began in 2011 in a small storage unit, and how it has grown into a furniture bank that has delivered more than 25,000 beds to children and families in need. What amazed us most was the people: businesses, churches, and neighbors who give their time so a child can have a bed of their own.

In the next few weeks, we will ride along on a delivery and help bring furniture to a family’s home. We cannot wait. If you live near Charlotte, you can be part of it too. Volunteer, donate furniture, or give at bedsforkids.org.

How we met Quentin of D2C

Some meetings feel like a gift. Our coffee with Quentin Williams of Dedication To Community (D2C) was one of them.

Our friend Shannon Teal was sure we would love Quentin, and she made the introduction. She was right. When Andy came to Charlotte in September, we sat down with Quentin, and he shared his story with us. Then he wanted to hear all of ours. D2C works to reduce violence, heal divides, and help communities thrive in unity and mutual respect. Quentin encouraged us, and he opened our eyes to people we had not thought to reach.

We left grateful, and with a promise to keep: Quentin asked for some information from Project Milk Carton, and we are gathering it for him now. We look forward to helping D2C any way we can. To learn about their work, visit DedicationToCommunity.org.
